Connect AI Assistants

Connect SwitchBase to ChatGPT or Claude so you can chat with your data — ask questions, create records, trigger workflows — directly from your AI assistant.

The MCP server URL is the same for both:

ChatGPT

Requirements

  • A ChatGPT account on a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu)
  • A SwitchBase account

1. Open Settings

In ChatGPT, click your profile in the bottom-left, then click Settings.

2. Go to Apps → Advanced settings

Select Apps in the left menu, then click Advanced settings.

3. Enable Developer mode

Toggle Developer mode on, then click Create app in the top-right.

4. Create a new app

A blank New App form will appear.

5. Fill in the app info

Enter the following:

  • Name: SwitchBase
  • MCP Server URL: https://mcp.switchbase.com/mcp
  • Authentication: OAuth

Check I understand and want to continue, then click Create.

6. Authorize SwitchBase

You'll be redirected to authorize ChatGPT to access your SwitchBase account. Click Authorize ChatGPT.

7. Chat with SwitchBase

You're connected! To get ChatGPT going with the tool, it helps to reference the switchbase tool directly in your prompt.

Try something like:

Can you tell me what orgs you have access to using the switchbase tool?

8. Take action from the chat

Beyond asking questions, you can have ChatGPT take actions in SwitchBase on your behalf — creating and updating records, sending chat messages, and more. For example:

Can you create a missing iPhone report in the Report Missing Item form?

ChatGPT will show a confirmation card before any write action — review the details, then click Create Record to confirm or Deny to cancel.

Claude

Requirements

  • A Claude account (free or paid)
  • A SwitchBase account

1. Open Settings

In Claude, click your profile in the bottom-left, then click Settings.

2. Go to Connectors

Select Connectors in the left menu, then click Browse connectors in the top right.

3. Add a custom connector

Scroll to the bottom and choose Add custom connector, then fill in:

  • Name: SwitchBase
  • URL: https://mcp.switchbase.com/mcp

Click Add.

4. Authorize SwitchBase

You'll be redirected to authorize Claude to access your SwitchBase account. Click Authorize.

5. Chat with SwitchBase

You're connected! Try asking:

Tell me about my SwitchBase orgs

6. Take action from the chat
