Run 9 → Convert a Dashboard into a Command Center

Introduction

In this lesson, let's convert a copy of your Issues Dashboard (created in Run 7) into an Event Command Center by:

  • Duplicating and Renaming the Issues Dashboard
  • Adding an Event Controller Widget
  • Linking your Issues and Events Forms
  • Adding Event Marker Templates
  • Sharing the Dashboard with the Guest Services Group

Customize a Dashboard

  1. Jump back to the Use Case: Customize a Dashboard section at the bottom of the Dashboard article listed above

    • Follow the instructions to the letter and you'll be good to go
  2. Don't forget to Configure your Event Controller Widget as explained in these Steps ▶

Remove the Issue Type Widget

  1. Open your Issues Dashboard → and then click the Ellipsis followed by Edit Dashboard

  2. Delete the Issue Type Widget from your Dashboard → Steps ▶

    • It's as simple as A, B, C

  3. Click Remove

Add a Text Filter Widget

  1. Add a Text 'Filter Description Field' Widget to your Dashboard → Steps ▶

  2. Name & Configure your new Text Filter

    • A. Placeholder textFilter the Description Field
    • B. Form dataIssue
    • C. Select fields to filterDescription
    • D. Save Changes!

  3. Press Save Changes

Share the Dashboard

After you create a Dashboard, don't forget to Share it with your Guest Services Group → Review the Steps from Lesson Run 8 ▶

  1. Click the Share Dashboard (Private) button

  1. Select your Guest Services Group → and make them Viewers of your Dashboard

  2. Save!

Add 3 Events and 3-5 Issues

  1. Open your Event Command Center Dashboard and either:

  2. Add 3 new EventsHint - SwitchBase Web✋

    • Either pick a Concert, Basketball, or Soccer Shortcut, or use the Other option to add a different type of Event
  3. Pick your first Event from the list

  4. Create 3-5 Records with the Issue Form → Hint - SwitchBase Web✋

    • Be sure to tie the 3-5 Issues to one of the Events you entered in Step 2 above
    • Include a Description for each of your new Issues!
  5. Filter your Dashboard using your Description text filter → Hint - SwitchBase Web✋
